a political conversation

I’m not a news guy, but when Robert Liebeskind from the New York Society for Ethical Culture asked us to shoot a conversation between Mayor Cory Booker of Newark, NJ and Mayor Julian Castro of San Antonio, TX, we jumped at the chance. The event was hosted by Stanford University Alumni Association and moderated by ABC news correspondent Juju Chang.

We shot the event using Nikon D7000 and D800 cameras. The D7000 had an SB700 flash on it, and the D800 used SB800 and SB910 flashes on stands with PocketWizards triggering them.

Note to self: the next time I shoot a political/news type event, don’t try and get too fancy (read: creative) with your lighting gear. Just take good photos that tell the story. Why? The pay off didn’t outweigh the hassle.
