the king’s whore

When Director Jen Wineman asked me to take some staged photos of her play The King’s Whore by Rob Santana at Walkerspace Theatre in Tribeca, New York City, I eagerly agreed. I’ve always loved being behind the scenes in the theatre, and here was an excellent chance. Wineman, Yale School of Drama graduate, has a highly creative and off-beat vision, and has directed numerous shows from New York to Williamstown to the Telluride Theatre in Colorado. This spring she will direct Charise Castro Smith’s new play The Hunchback of Seville for Washington Ensemble Theatre in Seattle. It should be known that she and my lovely wife Caroline both went to Vassar College together.

I shot all this stuff using existing light on my Nikon D800. Some of the shots have the ISO cranked up as high as 6400. Man, that D800 is an amazing piece of machinery!
