lake valhalla winter wedding

Here’s another winter wedding photography I did for George Street Photo. The ceremony was inside the warm Lake Valhalla Club. After shooting family portraits while the guests enjoyed cocktails, the bride and groom and I went outside to brave the cold for moody, lakeside pictures in the snow. Take a look at my other photography and creative projects at NJohnston Photography.

greek orthodox wedding

I love traditional weddings. Orthodox Greek, Jewish or Muslim, it doesn’t really matter. I love the culture and history that comes with them, and as a photographer, they usually present beautiful and unique opportunities. The bride and groom were married in their family church in Queens, NY. After the ceremony we did family portraits, and then…

another snowy wedding

A winter wedding in the snow is always different and fun. I had the good fortune of working with this couple last year through George Street Photo. Their wedding ceremony was in the Poconos next to the Delaware River at the rustic Shawnee Inn. After a chilly first look on the sweeping veranda and some more pictures, the bride…

kirkpatrick chapel

I love shooting weddings at Rutger’s historic Kirkpatrick Chapel. The intimate space feels so authentic that I actually lose my sense of time when I’m taking pictures there. Due to it’s popularity, wedding parties are practically lined up at the door, so every time I’ve done portraits there, it’s been rushed. Still, I’m happy with the few…

nicole & keith

Nicole and Keith wanted their engagement photos taken in Hoboken, with the Manhattan skyline in the background, even though their wedding would eventually be on Long Island. On their big day, they had a traditional wedding in the family church. After the ceremony, and despite poor weather, we managed to get some fun portraits at…

krissy & bobby

Krissy and Bobby were married on Halloween at Willow Lake Farms in Fishkill, New York. With amazing Hudson River Valley fall colors and sunshine, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Photographing a wedding with autumn leaves always inspires me, and this was no exception. Even more so because Krissy and Bobby were relaxed and easy…

paige & jose

Paige and Jose had a traditional New York wedding in that it was very non-traditional. Keeping with the times is always good. After the bride prepared herself, the groom joined us for some pre-nuptial portraits before we all walked to the venue. They were married under a chuppah in the ICI Restaurant, a wonderful little French kitchen in Brooklyn, NY….

kelly & tim

I had the pleasure of being the photographer for the wedding of Kelly and Tim at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey. One of my favorite moments was when the bride took a break to do some shots with her favorite ladies. Thanks to the warm weather, we were able to do some beautiful…

an urban wedding

This New York couple had a traditional Greek Orthodox wedding in their family’s church in Queens. After the ceremony and family portraits in the church, we went to The Foundry in Long Island City for a fun-filled reception party and some sexy roof-top photos. If you love my photography but can’t afford my full services through my…

joanna & dylan at the university club

When Joanna and I first spoke on the phone, she was very specific. She doesn’t like getting her photo taken and didn’t really want the photography to be a big part of the day. Just enough to satisfy the parents and the few people who might want a “wedding portrait” on their wall. Easy. Or…
